Founded in 1977, the Institute began as an educational endeavor to connect children to the ocean through hands-on experiences. Today, in addition to thousands of students on field trip programs, our facility hosts incredible private events.

With spectacular views of the Pacific and Dana Point Harbor and multiple spaces for rent, including our historic tall ship the Spirit of Dana Point, Ocean Institute provides the perfect venue for weddings, private events, meetings, and more.

Ocean Institute is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. All proceeds from private events help Ocean Institute sustain its mission of inspiring children to learn, using experience as the teacher and the ocean as our classroom.
